Just getting back into the spirit since wedding season 2012 is upon us! I figured I should start by catching up on all the blogs from last year since so many more photos will be coming soon! This was a lovely wedding on a beautiful fall day last November. We got a bunch of photos with the girls before heading to the ceremony at Winderemere Manor. After the ceremony we rushed outside to get a few evening shots before all the light was gone and the party started! Oh and check out Andrew’s geeky little detail – Incredible Hulk cufflinks! And of course Leanna you were a truly beautiful bride. It was an amazing day and party! Congrats Leanna & Andrew!!

I love Autumn, it’s my favourite season. So I’m always excited for fall weddings. We also did Becky & Ryan’s engagement photos in fall. Their wedding took place at the Pine Knot Golf and Country Club and Dorchester United Church. Also they got ready at the Lamplighter Inn in London. All the venues were beautiful, but not as beautiful as the bride Becky looked! Anyway, you can’t really tell by the photos but it was cold and a little drizzly that day. But that didn’t stop everyone from having a good time! So thanks Becky, Ryan and the wedding party for being troopers and toughing it out! As always it’s worth it for the photos. Congrats Becky & Ryan!

As you can probably see by the photos, these ladies and I had a ton of fun shooting back in the fall! We decided to shoot around the forks of the Thames since there’s lots of different backgrounds and also the autumn leaves are always great in the park there. It was pretty chilly so we kept warm by playing on the climber, hehe ;) By the way I feel like I should be doing more shoots like this, everyone obvioulsy gets family photos, but what about your friends? Sure drunk snapshots are fun but it’s nice to have something more for your closest friends. Anyway, I think ‘friends photos’ should become a thing…

This wedding was so amazing & fun! I was really looking forward to it since I had recently shot Houria & Ahmed’s engagement photos (which is my most popular engagement blog so far!) Anyway, I’d have to say beautiful & stylish describe both the bride, Houria and this wedding as a whole perfectly. Houria you are drop dead gorgeous and you look even better with your handsome new husband Ahmed! Sorry for gushing, I can’t help it ;) So both the ceremony and reception were held at the Hilton and we did photos around the old courthouse and downtown London. Then onto the lavish reception and sooo much dancing! Congrats Houris & Ahmed!!

I always love autumn weddings and I was especially looking forward to this one because Candice & Chris are awesome! You might recognize them from their pretty engagement shoot last fall. Anyway this was yet another perfect day for a wedding, it was warm, pretty and the sun was shining. And Candice is so beautiful, she was the perfect bride! We headed to Gibbons Park for the photo session and had a ton of fun making photo magic before the epic reception began. I love how much fun everyone was having, you know it’s a great wedding when the groomsmen’s pants come off, lol!! This is how is should always be on your wedding day, no stress, just the best day of your life followed by the best party of your life. So I know you both will have an amazing life together! Congrats Candice & Chris!!

I love working with this family! I have been photographing them since Jaia was a baby and look how big she is now!! We spent a morning back in early fall at Fanshawe Pioneer Village exploring, playing and of course taking photos in between. This was a beautiful day. Emily & Matt are both laid back and they were both just excited to get married! We started getting ready at Windermere Manor (which I love shooting at!) and I had fun taking photos of all the little details and shoooooes! I love when brides have two pairs of shoes, it’s a great idea for everyone to have comfy shoes for the reception later! Oh and I have to mention Emily you looked STUNNING and your little brother William is so cute! Anyway then they had their ceremony and hosted their reception also at the beautiful Windermere Manor. One of my favorite details of the day were the table cards at the reception. Each table had a different epic (and geeky!) couple, great idea! Just look at all the photos from the day, they are so sweet. Congrats Emily & Matt (also known as Fry & Leela) ;)

What could be better than a pretty summer wedding post to brighten up this gloomy winter day! Here is Melissa & Mike’s lovely country wedding. They own the Arva Flour Mill so of course it was the perfect location for them to tie the knot. We started at the MAC Store in the mall for makeup shots with the ladies. From their we headed home to finish getting ready, that’s where I first saw Melissa’s dress and as you can see it is amazing! I just love all the details and Melissa is so beautiful!! Then it was ceremony time , followed by the photo session. We took tons of photos around the mill grounds and the bride & groom were even awesome enough to do a few in the actual flour mill (those are my favs!). We were very careful not to get them dirty since there was flour all over everything in there ;) Then of course it was party time in their tent, which was decorated so prettily! It was very whimsical and perfect for the country theme, I just love all the little details! Enjoy the photos, it was really a perfect day. Congrats Melissa & Mike!!

Photo Diary 2011, Volume 4

First of all – HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE! So this is the last 2011 volume of my Annual Photo Diary. I divided the year into quarters and picked 20 for each quarter. So these are the photos from October to December 2011 that I feel represent my best work and experiences. As always I did a lot of fall shoots since it is my favourite time of year…

October 1st, 2011 Houria & Ahmed’s wedding was so beautiful! Obviously she looks just stunning in this shot taken outside the courthouse. Keep an eye out their full blog will be up soon also!

October 1st, 2011 I had to add another one from Houria & Ahmed’s big day showing the whole wedding party. I loved working with all of them, big wedding parties always make for awesome group shots!

October 2nd, 2011 Today our friends Andrea & Andrew came down from Kitchener with the little ones to visit and do a shoot. We avoided the rain and grabbed some fun shots downtown by cool graffiti. The boys were messing with me and didn’t want to smile, but after we played zombies for a bit they warmed up ;)

October 7th, 2011 So this was my first shot with model/costume designer Stephanie and I love working with her! Stephanie you are awesome to shoot, I’m glad we did so many shoots this year and I can’t wait to come to Guelph and visit you and shoot more! I loved this Mystique shoot, it was hard to pick which one to use, but I think this one was the most epic ;)

October 8th, 2011 It was a lovely, warm, sunny fall day. I know I say this a lot, but it really was a perfect day for a wedding. Candice & Chris your day was amazing and don’t worry your photos are coming a long great and I can’t wait for you to see them all and your albums!

October 9th, 2011 I love this maternity shot of Allison & Manny, he is such a good dog! He actually listens and now he is so good with the new baby :)

October 9th, 2011 We went outside to get a few more maternity shots of Allison & Scott together. It was close to sunset and the lighting was magical, here’s the full blog.

October 15th, 2011 Becky & Ryan’s big day is here, they couldn’t stop kissing! Despite it being a chilly, stormy day, they kept eachother warm and the sky made for a ridiculously beautiful backdrop for photos. So I was loving it!

October 15th, 2011 Another shot of Becky & Ryan, while I was shooting this I knew I was going to make it Ansel Adams style black & white. This wedding will be on the blog eventually too!

October 16th, 2011 I fell in love with the little bulldog Rupert! I was considering stealing him, but I didn’t think my clients would appreciate that too much ;) Here’s the full blog.

October 23rd, 2011 Ok so this was my first ever Zombie walk and I was amazed at how many people came and how into it they were! This girl was seriously playing the zombie part well! I am never going to miss one again, next year I might even become a Zombietographer, lol.

October 30th, 2011 So today I had the pleasure of shooting Dina & her best friends. It’s always nice to work with such a fun group of ladies! Your photos are almost ready girls, I am waiting on the photobook which is going to look awesome! These girls will be up on the blog in the new year as well ;)

November 12th, 2011 This was my last wedding of the year! Leanna & Andrew had a beautiful Windermere Manor wedding, this was shot just after sunset in front the The Grand Hall. They will be on the blog next year also!

December 18th, 2011 Allison finally had little baby Olivia, and she is perfect! Here she is only 10 days old, but she is already alert & beautiful. I can’t wait to watch/photograph her growing. Allison just sent me her choices to edit from this shoot, so Olivia’s blog will be posted soon too.

December 19th, 2011 So Stephanie contacted me last minute to say she could come down to London to visit if I wanted to shoot a bunch of her costumes. So of course I said yes! Here she is as Asuka from Evangelion in her Kimono outfit. It was cold but Steph is a real trooper!

December 19th, 2011 And this is from the same day, here is Stephanie as Asuka again, but this time in her Gothic Lolita outfit. Thanks to Fanshawe College for letting us shoot there!

December 20th, 2011 The next day we shot some more, this time at Western, which worked out great for this shot of her as Haruhi from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. We had so much fun wandering & shooting and there’s lots of funny outtakes of Stephanie messing around ;)

December 20th, 2011 So this is the last shot before the Holidays. On more of Stephanie as Haruhi in her Santa outfit, Merry Xmas! Here’s the full post with a silly bonus video.

So that concludes my Photo Diary 2011. Going through all my photos from the year and putting these blogs together is really neat for me to remember everything I did and think about all I want to do next year. One thing is for sure… I take ALOT of photos! Next year I will be doing a lot more work for Geek Girls and also doing more video & stop-motion. I will also be travelling (not quite sure where yet) and actually making something of wanderingdana.com at some point too… ugh sooooo many things to do and so little time! I’m just hoping 2012 doesn’t go by as fast as this year did ;) Anyway, have a killer holiday everyone, thanks for viewing! <3

Welcome to Volume 3 of my 2011 photo diary. Here are Volume 1 & Volume 2 if you missed them. These are my 20 favourite photos from July to September 2011 that I feel represent my best work and experiences. These months were jam packed with shoots, weddings and Fan Expo!

July 7th, 2011 So this volume starts with an amazing Elf shoot that Daron and I did. I can’t wait to get to editing the rest of these shots (since we shot in the middle of wedding season I haven’t had a chance yet) because there are some really killer shots!! Daron made the costume herself for the shoot and can totally pull off being an Elf, hence the name Elfie!

July 9th, 2011 was the cosplay picnic (photos still coming from that as well) with the London Cosplayers. There we met Amy who was cosplying as Revy from Black Lagoon. So we grabbed a few shots and this one was my fav. I am really looking forward to another shoot with her next weekend!

July 11th, 2011 This was Gabi & Jeff’s lovely little elopement that I was lucky to be a part of, here’s the full blog.

July 16th, 2011 It was a perfect day for Jen & Brad’s summer wedding! And I got another one of my coveted silhouette shots at the beautiful Chapel of Hope. Here’s the full blog.

July 22nd, 2011 Julie & Khalid had an amazing Friday wedding! This was shot at UWO (one of my fav photo locations, so many cool spots!) and the whole day was perfect, here’s the full blog.

July 29th, 2011 Melissa & Jon’s wedding was fun, laid back and of course so beautiful! It was a lovely Friday summer afternoon, a perfect day for a wedding St. Luke’s in the Garden. Here’s the full blog.

August 20th, 2011 was another beautiful summer wedding out in the country. Hanna & Adam were such a fun couple and we totally dodged a storm that day, luck was on our side! I haven’t got around to blogging this wedding yet, but I will soon! Join my Facebook Page so you don’t miss it!

August 21st, 2011 I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this wedding at Windermere Manor. Nancy & Jason’s winter engagements were also in my Photo Diary Volume 1 if you remember. You have to check out the full blog because it also includes my first ever stop motion wedding video!

August 23rd, 2011 Houria & Ahmed had one of my fav engagement sessions of the year! We headed out on a nice late summer evening to wander downtown and make some magic. Here’s the full blog and their wedding will be in the next Volume!

August 25th, 2011 and so begins Fan Expo! This has to be my favourite time of year (if you don’t know Fan Expo is like the San Diego Comic-Con of Canada). I briefly met Poisonne cosplaying as Harley Quinn and obviously had to get a few shots! She is an amazing model/cosplayer!

August 25th, 2011 we hung out with Geek Girls Jes at Fan Expo and got a few shots of her killer steampunk outfit she made. I also got a bunch of shots with her and her boyfriend K, so these will be up soon as well!

August 26th, 2011 The next day at Fan Expo we went out to get some food/beers and I spotted this amazing Spock impersonator, Spock Vegas. Obviously I had to chase him down and get a shot, this guys is the real deal!

August 26th, 2011 I ran into Poisonne again and got another shot of her as in a Cenobite from Hellraiser inspired costume. The rest of the Fan Expo photos will finally be on the Geek Girls Page next month so go Like us!

September 10th, 2011 was Melissa & Mike’s beautiful weddding. This was shot inside their flour mill so we had to be very careful not to get flour dust all over the bride & groom! This wedding will be on the blog next since I haven’t had a chance to post it yet, stay tuned!

September 14th, 2011 was a fun shoot with Crystal & Ryan and I can’t wait for their wedding next June! I love the Western Fair so I am always excited to shoot there, here’s the full blog.
